About
A prominent Law Firm, MRP-Advisory, is known for its expertise in construction disputes, corporate law, litigation, and intellectual property. As the firm serves a diverse clientele, it handles a high volume of complex International cases involving construction arbitration, ranging from multi-jurisdictional disputes to intricate transactional work, and more. The firm prides itself on its commitment to thoroughness, strategic insight, and delivering optimal outcomes for its clients.
Operational Hurdles Faced:
Like most modern law firms, MRP has had to navigate a rapidly evolving legal landscape. Handling an increasing volume of cases, complex regulatory frameworks, and the constant pressure to deliver the highest quality services. MRP’s hurdles were also different due to the specialized nature of construction and infrastructure disputes that they handle, especially owing to extensive document and correspondence review, precedent research and evidence management which consumed significant attorney hours – hours that could have been devoted to strategy and client engagement.
These processes are not only time-consuming and highly labour intensive but are also prone to human error. Traditional methods of reviewing documents and conducting precedent research across multiple databases often resulted in prolonged research phases and missed opportunities. Similarly ensuring proper evidence management requires immense effort, with significant risks if not handled effectively.
Given the dynamic nature of legal practice, and the ever-increasing demands, and the advent of the legal tech space, the firm’s leadership recognized that they might just need to start working with the legal-tech partners to integrate AI into the practice.
To address the same, the firm began conducting an in-depth analysis, exploring various technological solutions. It was in this background that MRP believed it was time to partner with MASIN AI, which stood out as a clear leader since it was a specialist AI in construction and infrastructure disputes worldwide. At this stage, MASIN AI has been brought into the legal teams on a pilot basis.
Like most law firms, MRP also raised concerns regarding sharing of data with LLMs, client confidentiality and privilege. These concerns were satisfactorily and effectively addressed by MASIN AI where there is no sharing of data with any of the LLMs. (Ankur and team – please expand on what all steps we take to ensure this – for instance our agreements with these LLMs, confidentiality clauses etc. ) Using public use software such as ChatGPT, Gemini or DeepSeek, on the other hand, has the risk of data breaches and lack of client confidentiality.
In addition, partnering with MASIN AI brings to any law firm, the advantage of making it possible to identify specific areas within a firm’s workflow for improvement in terms of efficiency, data protection etc.
“I am excited to work with our legal tech-partners to integrate AI into our everyday lawyering. At MRP we remain cautious in our approach to emerging technologies such as MASIN AI and everything is subject to rigorous review by our legal team. But we have seen its value in streamlining labour-intensive tasks. While it is still early days, it may just have the potential to revolutionize how legal teams operate. Used responsibly, it could mean legal teams spend much less time buried in voluminous documents and more time strategizing for clients.” said Gunjan.
The Way Forward
The Firm has integrated Masin AI on a pilot basis across different departments, resulting in streamlined workflows and increased efficiency. The pilot integration has included tailored training sessions, interactive workshops, and internal initiatives to ensure rapid adoption and skill-building among the para-legal and legal staff.
“Masin AI has been brought on board as a pilot project, as an intelligent assistant, tailored to the unique demands of construction claims and commercial disputes, with the aim of freeing our lawyers to focus on higher-value strategic work, but it looks like it may be here to stay” said Gunjan.
